Career Summary
Dr. Ann K. Masse has over 40 years of experience across the fields of health, safety, environment, security, and product stewardship. She is a passionate advocate for safety and sustainability. Ann began her career as an environmental scientist with a Ph.D. in Oceanography.
Ann spent 23 years at DuPont where she held various leadership positions culminating in Global Safety, Health, and Environment Leader—Strategy. DuPont is recognized as a world leader in safety and health practices and performance.
In 2014, Ann joined the mining industry as a safety executive and has championed the cultural change in safety leadership and employee engagement across the industry. Both Barrick and Goldcorp achieved significant improvements in safety under her leadership guidance through a focus on fatality prevention through critical risk management. While at Rio Tinto, the company advanced an industry-leading approach to safety culture resulting in sustained fatality free performance. This approach, named the Safety Maturity Model, is based on risk management, leadership and behaviors, and integrated health and environmental management.
Ann currently chairs the Sustainability Committee at IAMGOLD as a non-executive director. IAMGOLD is a Canadian gold mining company, with mines in Canada and Burkina Faso. She has also served on the boards of Pacific Salmon Foundation (Vancouver, BC) and the Partnership for the Delaware Estuary (Wilmington, DE) and has served in an advisory role for the College Earth, Ocean, and the Environment at the University of Delaware.
