This short course covers recent changes to regulations on diesel exhaust emissions in underground mines, including new performance standards and occupational exposure limits. It will also discuss risk assessments, compliance challenges, and transitioning to more environmentally friendly fuels. Attendees will have a hands-on session with exposure assessment equipment. Join this four-hour professional development course to learn about assessing worker exposures to diesel particulate matter in mining.
Short Course Objectives:
Exposure Assessment Techniques
Provide participants with a sound understanding of the qualitative and quantitative assessment of exposure to diesel exhaust emissions (DEE) in mining.
Understand the steps and equipment for quantifying exposure to diesel particulate matter (DPM).
Participants will understand how to select the appropriate equipment to measure DPM (as elemental carbon) and devise a suitable sampling strategy.
